The Supreme Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai has announced the resumption of trams, marine means of transportation including Dubai Ferry, water taxi, traditional and air-conditioned abras, and rental vehicles with a joint mobility system to work as of today May 13, according to the times set by the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai .
It is allowed to use public transportation in Dubai according to the precautions that were applied as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of the new Corona virus. The mandatory requirements include wearing a muzzle and the obligation to adhere to leaving a safe distance with others during the use of transportation and while in its facilities.
Public transportation in Dubai, including metro, buses, trams, and maritime transport, has witnessed during the past weeks adjustments in its working hours, which include reducing operating hours and periods of suspension for several weeks, especially for maritime transport that has been suspended from service for more than 6 weeks.
The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Matar Al Tayer, announced a few days ago that global practices stressed the need to continue to provide public transport services, which are a major artery for the continued work of some vital sectors. He pointed to the recommendation of those studies to reduce operating hours and the volume of absorptive capacity during the current circumstances, pointing to reducing cities such as Brussels, the duration of public transportation operation and its capacity by 30%, and the American city of New Jersey by 50%, compared to the city of Paris, in which the ratio varied between 30 to 50% .
