The United States surpassed the United States, Italy, today, Saturday, to record the highest number of new cases of coronavirus, more than any other country, according to Johns Hopkins University.

According to the university’s count, the United States recorded 18,860 deaths, surpassing Italy, which has so far recorded 18,849 deaths from the emerging Corona virus.

The United States is the country with the highest number of HIV infections as well, with the total number of cases exceeding 500,000.

On Friday, the United States became the first country in the world to exceed 2,000 deaths in one day, with 2,108 deaths recorded within 24 hours.

The state of New York is the epicenter of the country, and New York Mayor Bill de Palacio announced on Saturday the decision to close public schools until the end of the school year.
