In Norway, a man was sentenced to prison for spitting on police officers and threatening the corona virus. Similar incidents have also occurred in Sweden.

- There are several examples of that. You pretend to be infected and run against the police and cough or spit, ”says Patrik Danielsson, who is the National Police Federation's national chief security officer.

According to him, it is a tactic used by some who do not want to deal with the police and who want to try to escape an arrest. Tactics have been there even before, but have gained momentum as the corona virus spreads.

- We must always assume that the people are infected, that all police officers must carry with them in their everyday lives. But we cannot stop doing our job, but we must manage the situation based on it.

Just over 130 coronation incidents

Up to Monday, more than 130 incidents related to the corona virus had been reported by police officials. It is usually about police officers who have come in contact with suspected coronas infected in connection with arrests, when they help the medical care, in passport management or the like.

- There is a general concern within the entire police department. We are affected by what is happening around us, but not to the extent that it prevents us from doing our work, ”says Patrik Danielsson.

He believes that it is more demanding for the individual police officers to use the protective equipment available, to keep their distance, to maintain hand hygiene and so on.

- We have a business that requires us to be up and running all the time, says Patrik Danielsson.
