It is noted that if earlier it was said that up to 25 million people could lose their jobs due to a pandemic, then new forecasts say that this number may turn out to be much larger.

According to preliminary estimates, in the second quarter of 2020, measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 will destroy 6.7% of working time worldwide, which is equivalent to 195 million full-time workers.

Significant reductions are projected in the Arab states (5 million full-time workers), Europe (12 million workers) and the Asia-Pacific region (125 million workers).

Organizations point out that the current crisis is "the worst global crisis since World War II."

Earlier, the US Department of Labor said that the number of applications for unemployment benefits in the United States broke the 1982 record.
