The Iraqi army said in a statement that three rockets landed yesterday near the site of the American Halliburton Oil Services Company in Basra, southern Iraq, without causing any casualties. The Katyusha rockets hit residential and administrative headquarters in the Burjesiya district, west of Basra. The statement added that a bomber was found near the site with 11 missiles intended for launch, and that the security forces dismantled it.

Yesterday, an Iraqi security source reported the launching of a broad operation to search and purify the western desert of Anbar. The source said that the operation was led by Al-Jazeera Operations Commander, Major General Qassim al-Muhammadi, and with the participation of the army, police, and tribal mobilization, and with the support of the army’s flight and the flights of the international coalition against the “ISIS” terrorist organization.

It should be noted that separate areas of Iraq are witnessing separate acts of violence carried out by the remnants of ISIS against Iraqi security forces and civilians, despite the announcement of the elimination of the organization militarily in the country at the end of 2017.

In a related context, the Iraqi Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zarfi stressed that his country does not need the presence of foreign forces on its soil, and that the Iraqi forces are able to protect the country.

"I pledge that there will be no security breaches when the government obtains the confidence of parliament, and I do not allow any American bombing," Al-Zorfi said in an interview with Al-Iraqiya TV, stressing that the coalition forces came to Iraq to help the Iraqi forces in fighting against ISIS.

He added: "We do not need a foreign army to protect Iraq, and I asked the US ambassador in Baghdad to schedule the withdrawal of US forces during this year and early next year from Iraq, and we do not need the presence of foreign armies."

He continued, "We appreciate the coalition forces' assistance to Iraq in the war against ISIS, and we have no hostility against any country, and we will keep Iraq away from the specter of war and attacks, and we cannot accept any party trying to create problems in Iraq," noting that the government will present its program to parliament this week. Next, the program will lead the election.
