When the government went out and recommended all upper secondary schools in Sweden to introduce distance education, Allé School's management was already widened. Distance education was already introduced the next day.

The music students brought home their own instrument. Nowadays they have contact with teachers and classmates via the internet, and each lesson begins with a video meeting.

In the video above you can see how a digital music lesson works.

Worked digitally before

Now it has been over two weeks since distance education was introduced. Andreas Lockström, a music teacher at Alléskolan, thinks that music lessons work well.

- We have been running a lot before with digital, he explains.

What do the students say about the different way of teaching?

- They think it's very fun. This is exactly what they think about recording. And they can create a lot together in these programs.

A challenge for teachers

For the teachers, teaching also poses challenges in the work on the course structure and assessment of students' performance. The music teachers have recurring meetings.

- We keep in touch every day via digital meetings. Then we talk back and forth about how to evaluate different courses. At the same time, the National Agency for Education comes up with fairly good regulations and guidelines, says Andreas Lockström.

Earlier this week, the students would play during the Alléskolan concert live, but it had to be canceled. Instead, they get to record their songs together online.
