Coronavirus: entry into force of the digital travel certificate in France

As part of the containment measures, Christophe Castaner, Minister of the Interior, announces the availability of a digital device of certificate of derogatory displacement, in addition to the paper device still valid. This service will be available online on the Ministry of the Interior website as of Monday.

It is not an application but a form available online on the website of the Ministry of the Interior. And nowhere else.

As with the paper certificate which remains in force, mention must be made of his identity and address. You should also choose the reason for the trip, as well as the date and time.

You must validate and a PDF file containing all of this information is generated. A QR Code appears, integrating the date and time of writing the document.

In case of control, simply present this file using your smartphone or digital tablet. The police scan the screen and therefore do not need to touch the phone.

The Interior Ministry specifies that this service is not a processing of personal data and that no information is transmitted to government servers. What has been entered is used only to generate locally, on the user's device, the certificate in digital form. There is no tracing and no data storage on any server.

Christophe Castaner would like to make it clear that if he refused the digital certification solutions that had emerged on the internet, it is precisely because they did not protect personal data and increased the risk of fraud.

And then, regarding the security of his personal information, be careful not to share his QR code on social networks. Indeed, anyone could access this information by scanning this code with their smartphone.

Another advantage: the system makes it possible to facilitate any updates in the event that the certificate changes. Nearly 8 out of 10 French people have a mobile phone according to a CREDOC survey.
