The fight against corona is in many ways becoming a technological war. Infection tracking apps, AI for drug development and 3D printers for making plastic visors are some examples. Here in Sweden there are several different initiatives to contribute with tech expertise. One is this weekend's "Hack the Crisis Sweden" where you will develop prototypes to solve practical problems.

- Everyone is on the link, we live stream everything, you are in our various digital platforms, it is probably the most digital we have done in a long time, says Love Dagar, hackathon manager at Hack the Crisis.

Behind this lies the state initiative Hack for Sweden, which just a week ago hooked on this global trend of Hack the Crisis hackathons. A common "invention" in other countries has been some kind of app for infection tracking.

Concrete solutions

- Hack the Crisis aims to find concrete solutions. We have three areas to compete in: saving lives, saving communities, and saving business, says Carolina Emanuelson, partner manager at Hack the Crisis Sweden.

Starting on Friday night, participants, expected to be in the thousands, will have 48 hours to develop digital solutions that can be used quickly by various authorities.

- It is incredibly important from both our and the government's point of view that these are solutions that can be implemented at once, because that is what Sweden needs right now.

Several initiatives

Several other tech initiatives are underway against Corona in Sweden right now. Action against Corona works with connecting financiers with entrepreneurs who have an idea, such as a service that pairs those who need help with trading with those who want to help.

#ViTecherUpp is a call in the IT industry that has gathered over 80 companies and universities in artificial intelligence and digitalization. Caroline Andersson is the CEO of Governo who started it all.

- We work with everything from infection tracking, matching home deliveries to the elderly, 3D printing technology for care, support for vulnerable children, culture at a distance and more. Right now, about 15 initiatives are in progress that we act jointly around.
