Abu Dhabi Police called on the public to refrain from spreading rumors and circulating them on social media, which includes a number of messages, some of which lack accuracy and credibility, due to some people 's humiliation of launching rumors and promoting unfounded news that affects public opinion.

She explained that publishing rumors is a crime punishable by the Federal Penal Code in accordance with Article (198) bis, which states that he shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of no less than a year whoever intentionally broadcasts false news, statements or rumors, or is malicious, or broadcasts inflammatory propaganda that would disturb Public security, or terror among people, or harm the public interest.

She stressed the importance of community members being a protective shield in addressing the spread of rumors and misleading news and investigating objectivity and credibility, and thinking about the extent of negative impact on others and society before publishing these rumors, and not to rush to respond to any rumor.

She stated that the rumors promoters take advantage of the atmosphere of crises to spread anxiety and fears among people, and our basis in this aspect is to refer to the official authorities to verify the information and its sources and cooperate with the efforts of the concerned authorities that have taken precautionary measures for the safety of society.
