In all of Willy's 210 stores, a tall and wide plexiglass is mounted in front of the cashier. Pia Persson, who is treasurer in one of Willy's stores in Malmö, thinks it is good.

- It certainly feels and I think it will help, because we don't have to get so close. It's a drip infection, she says.

Johanna Eurén, who is the food chain's press contact, says that the last plexiglass is being installed right now.

- We got signals about staff concerns and thought about how we can protect employees because, of course, it is difficult to keep the distance at the checkout, she says.

ICA and Coop provide plastic glasses to the stores that want it.

- There are those who want it, but it is not a central decision or injunction, but every association or store can decide for itself. But many also use self-scanning where there is less congestion, says Tarik Belqaid, Coop press secretary.

Everything is wiped off more often

- I think it is great with plexiglass, you have it on banks, too, says customer Yvonne, who uses gloves in the shop himself.

The store chains have also tightened the cleaning and hygiene routines and many have put sticker decals in the floor so that the customers keep a distance in the queues for the checkout.

- We have new cleaning routines and everything that we and our customers touch on is cleaned and dried by several times a day, says Stefan Andersson store manager in one of Willy's stores in Malmö.

"More sticky notes in the floor"

At the Trade Employees' Union, there is a concern among members.

"We get a lot of questions about worrying about being infected, what can I do and what responsibility the employer has," says Magnus Möller, first Ombudsman for department 01 in Malmö.

He thinks the initiatives taken are good.

- What we would have liked to see more of are the sticky notes that have been put in the floor that keep you spaced and that you as a customer are thinking of going back a bit and not standing so close to the cashier at the cashier.
