01 April 2020 "Eurobonds arrive yes or no? The wind in Europe is changing with respect to rigorous positions, refractory to assessing any prospect of strong, vigorous and coordinated joint European initiatives. This wind, I repeat, is changing".

This was said by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte during the Special Agreements and Disagreements, on the Nine. "We have not yet arrived at total change, but the debate is also lively in Germany and Holland, the trend of rigorous countries. We have already taken significant steps compared to initial positions," he added.

"If I expected more responsibility from the opposition? I have always told ministers, ever since I adopted these measures, that we were going towards an emergency perspective, not only health, but also social and economic." So Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte during the recording of the Special Agreements and Disagreements on air tonight at 21.25 on Nove. "I highlighted the problems of public order with which we would be confronted. We will face complicated weeks and months. Someone raised the metaphor of the war - continues the President of the Council of Ministers -, a metaphor that suits us, because we fight an enemy and how every war there is a phase of economic recession ".

"Before taking a loosening perspective, we need to have a scientific basis of evaluation and then we can work on this perspective." So Count on the Nine. "We are already moving to work in this perspective. It is clear - continues the Prime Minister - that when we have a positive window, we will start easing the measures, we will manage a different phase until a real recovery" . "We are working - he concludes - also for a revival and economic construction".

Count to Zeit: Now it's time to demonstrate unity
"If we are a Union, then this is the time to prove it": Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte says in a long article published in the new issue of the German weekly Die Zeit. "It would be unfair", argues the head of the Italian government, "to make our path towards consolidation more difficult through the weight of a natural catastrophe, if it were possible to achieve this goal through a common management of the shock". The prime minister explains, in this which is a sort of open letter addressed to Germany, that "no country must exploit this crisis to rest the burdens of the past on the shoulders of others. It is certainly not the intention of my government and of those who have signed together to me the letter from the President of the EU Council Charles Michel in which we proposed the need for a solidarity and decisive reaction from the entire European Union ".

"I believe there are still misunderstandings and suspicions, which make it difficult for our countries to find a common solution": this is what Giuseppe Conte writes in an article for the German weekly Die Zeit. A solution which, however, "has a fundamental meaning for our Union: we must work to overcome this diffidence". According to the premier, moreover, "the decisions taken by the ECB and the Commission are the signal that shows that Europe knows that it must be strong". According to the Prime Minister, "monetary policy does everything necessary to prevent a financial fragmentation of the eurozone and to defend the common currency. But to believe that monetary policy alone is enough would be a serious mistake". And again: "We need a recovery strategy, which aims at a rapid recovery of the areas most affected by the pandemic, in order to protect companies in this difficult period from the danger of hostile acquisitions by third parties".
