In Israel, where at least 18 people have died from the coronavirus and more than 4,800 people have been infected, the population is mobilizing to help the elderly, the most vulnerable. An association mobilized the army, patrons and a host of volunteers to help seniors and avoid them going out to do their shopping. Boxes full of food are brought to them and left on their doorstep, to avoid contact and any risk of contagion. Report from our correspondents in the Middle East, Cécile Galluccio and Antoine Mariotti.

A few days before Easter, during which tourists and pilgrims usually flock to the holy places of Israel and the West Bank, the atmosphere is dismal in Jerusalem. As in many countries, containment measures have been imposed by the authorities and the population lives in a state of calm. The winding streets of the old city of Jerusalem are empty and the Christian, Jewish and Muslim holy places are deserted. Details on the spot from our correspondent, Antoine Mariotti.

Another country, another consequence. In Iraq, part of the international coalition forces deployed in the country decided to pack up. Nothing to worry about, according to Colonel Myles B. Caggins, spokesperson for the coalition. He assures us, in duplex of Erbil, that these forces will return once the epidemic is over and that the missions to fight against what remains of the Islamic State organization continue.

Finally, in Turkey, where there are officially 168 dead and more than 10,800 infected patients, the population tends to prefer cologne over hydroalcoholic gel to protect themselves against the spread of the virus. A practice encouraged by the authorities, while health professionals point out that cologne is far from sufficient. Report from our correspondents in Turkey, Ludovic de Foucaud, Shona Bhattacharyya and Hussein Assad.
