The bus station located in the perimeter of the Thomas Sankara high school, in the north of the city, looked like a fair for two days. The travelers jostled, but some of them ran out of space. This is the case of Alex Narcisse, a father in his fifties, who wanted to go and live his confinement in the locality of Gamboma, more than 300 kilometers from the capital. I was going to go home to Gamboma. But at the bus station, I found a crazy world. Suddenly, I could not find space because there are not enough buses to go to the village. That's why I'm leaving home. "

Carriers have doubled ticket prices, sometimes more. " Usually, we pay our ticket 7,000 FCFA to go to the village," explains Alex Narcisse. Now the price varies between 15,000 and 20,000 FCFA. It gets a little painful. "

It is the fear of Covid-19, which already affects Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, the two main cities in the country, which pushes many city dwellers to seek refuge in the countryside. The official assessment is currently of 22 confirmed cases, including two deaths recorded in Pointe-Noire.
