According to TASS, amendments are proposed to the bill to tighten liability for violation of quarantine.

In particular, it is planned to introduce administrative or criminal liability for the deliberate dissemination of false information about “circumstances posing a threat to the life and safety of citizens”.

Moreover, in case of serious consequences as a result of the distribution of these fakes, the violator may face a fine of up to 2 million rubles, correctional labor for up to two years, or forced labor or imprisonment for up to five years.

In addition, “public dissemination under the guise of reliable messages of knowingly false socially significant information”, which, if negligently caused harm to human health, may be punished with a fine of 700 thousand rubles to 1.5 million rubles, correctional labor for up to a year, or forced labor or deprivation freedom up to three years.

March 25, the State Duma introduced a bill to tighten liability for violation of quarantine.

It provides for a maximum sentence of imprisonment of up to seven years for violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules that resulted in the death of two or more persons.

Pavel Krasheninnikov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation, promised that by the second reading the bill would be amended to punish fakes in connection with coronavirus.
