Women's football has crossed the "symbolic" bar in France of the 200,000 licensees, players and managers combined, the president of the French Federation Noël Le Graët told AFP on Friday.

"It's symbolic, it's necessarily good news among all the bad news," commented the Breton leader, referring to the health crisis linked to the new coronavirus.

"We were 40,000 (redundant) six, seven years ago. Provincial, district, city women's football is progressing. Every time a club launches a women's section, we immediately have many registrations ", he said.

"Women's football works remarkably well, I think we have progressed well in recent years" thanks to the execution of an "important development plan" including the establishment of "pre-training centers, as at boys ", welcomed Le Graët.
