At Al Madab School in the Emirate of Fujairah, two students created a smart indoor positioning service, to facilitate finding children and people in public markets, parks and crowded places.

The students, Hessa Saeed and Maryam Rashid, told «Emirates Today» that this smart service is a small device, which can determine the places to be accessed, more accurately than the GPS device, which is used in open places.

They added that they took a full semester (three months) to accomplish the smart service, because the device programming process was complex, and it needs to be studied and researched for a long time.

And they mentioned that they conducted several experiments on the device, and the results were good, and the desired goal was achieved, as it narrows the area of searching for the place of the person, or the thing that is being searched for at a distance between one and three meters.

The two students pointed out that they considered the innovation of this device, in order to reduce cases of child loss in the large commercial markets and crowded public places.

The two students reported that they participated in the device in the National Festival of Science, Technology and Innovation, organized by the Ministry of Education, last February, in "Festival Arena in Dubai".

They pointed out that the festival was an appropriate opportunity to learn about the experiences of distinguished students, and to gain experiences through workshops and lectures on students' innovations, and a number of other topics, most notably the space sector in the country.
