The elections for the presidency of the French Football Federation (FFF), scheduled for the end of December, could be postponed by several weeks, even "after" the 2021 Olympic Games, declared current president Noël Le Graët on Friday AFP .

The cycle of elections in French football, which concerns in chronological order the districts, the leagues and then the Federation, will be turned upside down by the coronavirus crisis, explains the 78-year-old leader.

"It is possible that the district elections which were to take place in June are slightly postponed. I can hardly see an electoral campaign going on today" at this period, assures the one who has presided over the FFF since 2011.

For the time being, "we are dropping the elections a bit, we will talk about it again at the Comex to surely set new dates since we have until March 31 (2021), and not in December, for the current mandate ", he says.

Le Graët, re-elected for a second term in March 2017, has still not indicated whether he wishes to be a candidate for his succession.

"We will see if the districts make their election in December, the leagues in January, the pros in February and us maybe in March. Or else we go back a year after the Olympics, I don't know yet", slip- he.

In this case, "the Ministry of Sports would have to agree, we must also question the leagues and districts, and also those around us. Some people want to take the place of others too, that's life! ", he concludes.
