Ten of the 92 residents of the residential facility for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) "de Coinces" in Salbris, in Loir-et-Cher, died "in possible connection with the Covid-19", announced Friday l Regional Health Agency of the Loire Valley Center.
"Despite the commitment of the nursing staff and the voluntarism of their management team, we regret to confirm, to date, 10 deaths in possible connection with the Covid-19", announced the ARS and the prefecture in a press release. "In addition, a resident and 5 agents of the Ehpad whose director were confirmed Covid-19", it is specified.
Official reports of the epidemic do not include deaths in nursing homes
According to the ARS, "reinforced health security measures have been triggered on the spot to isolate patients, confine the professionals concerned and reinforce hygiene measures". "All the mobilized team of the Ehpad makes sure to accompany in the best conditions the residents in this epidemic period", adds the Agency.
The Covid-19 epidemic killed 1,995 people in hospital in France, a figure that does not include deaths in nursing homes or at home.
