In the evening of March 27, it became known that the number of deaths in whom the coronavirus infection COVID-19 had previously been detected was increased in Russia. The Moscow headquarters for monitoring the situation with the coronavirus reported that a 56-year-old patient had died.

“The patient did not have one lung after a cancer. Upon admission to the hospital, her left-sided pneumonia was confirmed. The patient died with increasing manifestations of multiple organ failure, including respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, ”the report said.

According to the latest data, a total of 1,036 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection COVID-19 were registered in Russia. At the same time, 45 people were discharged for recovery.

Earlier on Friday, the Russian Ministry of Health issued the fourth edition of temporary guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of new coronavirus infection COVID-19. The document, in particular, updated the section on laboratory diagnosis of coronavirus, and expanded drug therapy regimens.

“Among the drugs that are undergoing clinical trials in patients with COVID-19, umifenovir, remdesivir, favipiravir can also be noted. According to published data, these drugs can also be used today in the treatment of patients with COVID-19, ”the document says.

At the same time, doctors recommend using drugs such as lopinavir + ritonavir, chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, and interferon preparations. The corresponding recommendation is given on the basis of the analysis of literature data on the clinical experience of managing patients with SARS associated with SARS-CoV and MERSCoV coronaviruses.

“However, the information available today on the results of treatment using these drugs does not allow an unambiguous conclusion about their effectiveness / inefficiency, and therefore their use is permissible by decision of the medical commission in the prescribed manner, if the potential benefit to the patient exceeds the risk of their use ", - is explained in the text of the document.

In addition, the FSBI Center for Strategic Planning and Management of Biomedical Health Risks of the Ministry of Health of Russia launched the production of the latest test system for the diagnosis of COVID-19. From the analogues available on the market, it is distinguished by a higher sensitivity to coronavirus RNA. According to the agency, at least 10 thousand tests will be performed daily with a subsequent increase in production to 50 thousand per day.

In addition, Nikolai Briko, the chief epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health, suggested that the situation with the pandemic in Russia would decline in about a month. The academician believes that coronavirus obeys the general epidemiological patterns that are inherent in SARS and influenza.

“The main transmission mechanism is airborne droplets, and the activity of the epidemic process is significantly reduced in the warm season. Therefore, in late April - early May, the intensity of the spread of this infection should decrease, ”he said in an interview with Izvestia.
