Sweden has its own supply ratio of 50 per cent in food the rest is imports. If imports fall as a result of corona and country bumpers becoming infected, food supply could be disrupted, LRF believes.

- We are concerned by a general disease development in the industry due to corona. Our food production consists of many joints and if that chain is broken it can have a major impact on food supply, says Jeanette Blackert, chairman of LRF in Östergötland.

Foreign country workers

Many people who work in East Gothic agriculture are foreign seasonal workers.

- We expect staff shortages, because if the countries close their borders due to corona, we will have trouble getting foreign employees here, says Jeanette Blackert at LRF.

So far, there is no disturbance in production.

- Feed deliveries and slaughter production have no disruptions yet, and we can see that demand and sales of Swedish meat in the stores have increased since the beginning of the corana crisis, which in the long term can benefit Swedish meat production, says Jeanette Blackert, chairman of LRF in Östergötland.
