President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday a 30-day travel ban to try to stem the spread of the Corona virus.
"In order to prevent new casualties from reaching our shores, we will suspend all flights from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days. The new rules come into effect at midnight on Friday," Trump said in a speech to the Americans.
Trump exempted Britain from the ban, saying that this decision "does not apply to the United Kingdom."
Trump added that these restrictions also include "the sheer volume of trade and shipping" between Europe and the United States, and "various other things while we get approval."
In his speech, Trump called on Congress to pass tax cuts to counter the impact of the Corona virus on the economy after the closure of many businesses and the collapse of exchanges.
"I call on Congress to cut taxes on Americans’ salaries, "he said." I hope they will take this into consideration and with strength. "
He pointed out that he will ask the Treasury Department to set up facilities to pay taxes "for some people and businesses that have been negatively affected" by the epidemic, a move that, in his view, will pump about 200 billion into the American economy.
The White House announced that Trump had canceled a planned trip to Colorado and Nevada out of "caution."
