The Egyptian Ministry of Health said today, Wednesday, that seven new cases of the emerging coronavirus had been detected, taking the total number of confirmed cases of the disease in the country to 67.

Egypt imposed numerous measures to assure tourists that its visit is safe after monitoring the spread of the virus on the Nile cruise ship.

These measures included examining hundreds of tourists and tourism workers to detect the disease and disinfect hotel establishments and tourist ships in Luxor and Aswan.

The tourism sector is an important source of hard currency in Egypt.

The government also decided to suspend events in large gatherings, such as religious ceremonies, concerts, and exhibitions.

The official Middle East News Agency reported that the Ministry of Education on Wednesday ordered the suspension of activities such as sports and musical events, but held that the study would not be suspended.

The agency added that the security forces arrested three people for posting false information about the Corona virus on their Facebook accounts, in a clear move to prevent a public panic.
