Google began Monday to restrict visits to its offices in Silicon Valley, San Francisco and New York in order to ward off the risk of coronavirus contamination.

Already, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Facebook had recommended on March 6 to their employees in Washington State (northwest) to work if possible from home. Apple followed suit, while the prestigious TED conference scheduled for April in Vancouver (Canada) has been postponed.

To reduce the risk of coronavirus contamination, "outside visits" to certain Google offices, including the headquarters in Mountain View, California, have been limited, said a spokesperson for the group.

All job interviews will be "virtual" instead of the traditional face-to-face.

His Google I / O conference, scheduled for May in Silicon Valley, has been canceled. It traditionally hosts thousands of IT developers from around the world.

Amazon, Microsoft and Google dominate the global remote cloud market, and should therefore not lack the resources to organize themselves differently.

In the United States, more than 500 people have contracted Covid-19, which has killed at least 21 people, including 17 linked to a retirement home in Washington state (northwest).
