Julian Alaphilippe announced that he was not going to compete in Milan-San Remo, where he had won almost a year ago on Via Roma to sign his first success on a monument.

"If I did Milan-San Remo, it was a little too much in my program", explained, during a press point on the Boucles Drôme Ardèche, the former French world number one, who will take the start of the Tour of Flanders (April 5).

"If I start there and I have to go to Liège (Bastogne-Liège), Milan-San Remo it would have been a bit too much," says Julian Alaphilippe.

"After Paris-Nice, I'm going to go almost directly to Belgium to do some reconnaissance," said the great host of the Tour de France 2019, "very impatient to discover" the Ronde van Vlaanderen on April 5, "a really racing race dream"

"(I) want to win races that I haven't won yet," said the man from July to the 14 days in yellow.
