Two new Italian regions, Tuscany and Sicily, have identified cases of contamination with the new coronavirus, Civil Protection announced on Tuesday, reporting a new total of 283 cases in the country.

In Italy, regions so far spared have recorded cases of people tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus: Tuscany (central Italy), with two cases in Florence and Pistoia, and Sicily (south), where one tourist from Bergamo (Lombardy, north-west) who was in a hotel in Palermo was hospitalized. The new assessment thus reports 283 cases of contamination in the country, the most affected at European level and which has already known seven deaths. These two regions join Lombardy and Veneto where cases had already been announced. A dozen cities in the north are still confined.
