A number of serious acts of violence happened last winter in Värnamo. Two rival criminal gangs, one of them with links to Bandidos, surrendered to each other. The conflict culminated with the spectacular shooting on Malmövägen on January 10, where people in two cars shot at a third car. Since then, however, it has been quiet in Värnamo.
"Some of the people in this gang still live in the area, but we have worked hard to be visible and also made many proposals regarding drugs and weapons to stop the conflict," says Kristoffer Axell, deputy local police area manager in Värnamo.
Kristoffer emphasizes that the police are closely following the people in these criminal networks in order to be prepared for the conflict to re-inflate.
