The Italian fashion house Prada announced on Sunday that from April 2, 2020, the emblematic stylist and founder Miuccia Prada will cooperate with a creative co-director, the famous designer Raf Simons.

The famous 52-year-old Belgian fashion designer spent at Jil Sander, Dior then Calvin Klein in addition to having created his own brand, Raf by Raf, will therefore work in close collaboration with Miuccia Prada on the collections and all the creative processes of the brand.

Their first joint collection will be unveiled in September during the next Milan fashion week of spring / summer 2021 fashion shows.

The news was announced by surprise, on the fifth day of fashion week in Milan, disturbed towards the end by the multiplication of cases of new coronavirus in the north of Italy.

"It is the first time in fashion history that two such important and important designers will work together," said Patrizio Bertelli, husband of Miuccia Prada and owner of the brand, at a press conference convened at the last moment.

"The Prada group has always been able to anticipate global changes in the global fashion industry and we are demonstrating this even today," he said.

"I am not here to announce my retirement or my succession, but on the contrary, it is a new breath for me, a very exciting new adventure. And I will probably have to work even more than before!", Commented Miuccia Prada, visibly delighted with this prospect.

"We appreciate each other, we respect each other and we can't wait to see where this collaboration will take us," she continued.

"We have known each other for a long time, since 2005 when I was the head of Jil Sander. Since then, we have started to exchange on the theme of fashion, politics, art. Last year, after I’m leaving Calvin Klein. We’ve stepped up that dialogue to bring this project to life, "said Raf Simons.

"We want to put creativity at the heart of the fashion system, without forgetting the commercial imperatives and our responsibilities on this theme but with an approach that can question this system and be creatively stronger as a couple," concluded Raf Simons.
