SMHI warns of very high flows in Mörrumsån and Ronnebyån and also high flows in Bräkneån, Holjeån and Lyckebyån. Despite the already high water levels, they are expected to rise further in the coming days.

- The prediction is that there will be a few days until the end of week nine really, says Martin Petersson, crisis management officer at the County Administrative Board in Blekinge.

Have manned up this weekend

The fact that water levels are expected to rise even more has meant that the county administrative board in Blekinge has now strengthened readiness during the weekend.

- We are four people working during the weekend who are following the situation and are prepared in case anything should happen, says Martin Peterson.

The county administrative board manned up with an emergency preparedness officer, a communicator, an expert on dust safety and an expert in contaminated areas.

What are the risks with the high flows?

- There may be flooding of individuals and properties along the way, but it can also attract land masses along the waterways that can get trapped in our ponds, which can cause very large floods. In the worst case, we can have a dust break, says Martin Petersson.

Collaborates with neighboring counties

In addition to heightened preparedness, the county administrative board cooperates with other counties and has contact with them regarding the situation.

- We have reinforcement material that is located in Kristianstad with both barriers and sandbags and should anything happen in Kronoberg, Blekinge or Skåne county we can take advantage of the reinforcement resources, says Martin Petersson.
