“We consider the decision of the British media regulator Ofcom ... as another manifestation of the discriminatory policy of the UK authorities aimed at squeezing out Russian media content from the Western information space and suppressing alternative points of view,” the agency’s commentary says.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that such actions by the British regulator can be regarded as a “political order” for further “winding up” the course of the Salisbury incident investigation and hiding the details of the case.

“Official London is again using the media regulator as a punitive tool for the media. In addition, an atmosphere of “toxicity” around Russian media and their direct discrimination are used, ”the Russian ministry emphasized.

Earlier, Ofcom fined the owner of the NTV Mir Baltiya license £ 20,000 for "violating broadcasting rules" and "the principle of impartiality."

This decision was made after analyzing the program “Today” on April 2, 2018, in the framework of which the Skripals poisoning incident was discussed.
