February 16, 2020 A 48-year-old snowboarder, MA from Domodossola (Vco), died during an off-piste descent in Ciamporino, in the Divedro valley, in Ossola. Alpine Rescue and the Carabinieri were alerted by friends who did not see the man downstream after skiing. The victim was identified by the Piedmontese Alpine and Speleological Rescue at the base of a jump from a rock from which it had fallen.

The body was recovered with the collaboration of the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza and taken to the morgue on the 118 air ambulance.

Today's incident occurred in the same area where the firefighters rescued an unharmed snowboarder yesterday but got stuck on overhanging rocks. Another intervention by the rescuers this morning to assist a fifty year old who was injured during an excursion.
