The Syrian regime army said that the air defenses intercepted missiles coming from the Golan Heights occupied by Israel and brought them down before reaching their targets in the capital, Damascus, at a time when the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that some of the missiles hit their targets.

According to a military statement, "hostile missiles were detected coming from the occupied Syrian Golan, and our air defense systems immediately dealt with them and dropped a number of enemy missiles before reaching their targets." Israel did not adopt this bombing.

On the other hand, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that an Israeli bombing targeted "locations of the regime forces and Iranian militias in the vicinity of the capital, Damascus," stressing that a number of missiles hit its targets.

Syria had accused Israel earlier this month of attacking military targets in the south of the country, including targets near the capital, and in response, an Israeli military spokesman said that the army does not comment on foreign reports.

Previous raids
Since the outbreak of the conflict in Syria in 2011, the Israeli army has launched a series of raids in Syria, mainly targeting army sites and Iranian and other targets of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

Last week, at least 23 fighters, including Syrian soldiers and gunmen loyal to Tehran, were reported killed in an air strike that the Syrian regime accused Tel Aviv of launching on military sites near Damascus and the south of the country.

At the time, Al-Jazeera Net correspondent indicated - quoting local sources - that the air strikes targeted both the 91st Brigade of the First Division, the 75th Brigade in the western Damascus countryside, and the Mezzeh Military Airport, and military sites where Iranian experts are located in Qasiyon Mountain in Damascus, and the Center for Scientific Research in Jamaria, and Marj Al-Sultan area in Damascus countryside.

Damascus did not announce any casualties, and spoke of "wounding eight fighters" without specifying the location of their injuries or nationalities, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed the death of 23 fighters.

On January 14, strikes targeting the Tivor military airport in the center of the country - which Damascus accused Israel of launching - killed at least three pro-Iranian fighters, according to the Syrian Observatory.

On November 20, the occupation army claimed responsibility for a series of "large-scale" air strikes targeting forces of the Syrian regime and another of the Iranian "Jerusalem" corps, killing 21 fighters, including 16 foreigners, in addition to two civilians, according to the observatory. .
