The UN secretary-general says he supports the initiative of the African Union (AU), proposed at the end of January, to organize a reconciliation forum on Libya, including with the Gaddafis. He said he was in favor of the Pan-African organization being more closely associated with UN mediation in the country.

In the Sahel, "terrorists are gaining ground", warns Antonio Guterres, calling for a start from the international community. He is worried about a possible withdrawal of the United States from the zone. A departure that would further weaken, he said, the already insufficient security system and threaten the Sahelian states and the coastal countries.

He calls for the creation of a "peace enforcement force" in the region, although the Donald Trump administration refused to approve it in the Security Council.

Finally, the UN secretary-general calls on the international community to support the political transition in Sudan. He confirms that the Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdallah Hamdok, asked him to deploy a UN force and calls on Washington to remove this country from the list of states supporting terrorism.
