The thirtieth emergency meeting of the Arab Parliamentary Union - with the participation of heads and representatives of twenty Arab parliaments - began to discuss the US peace plan, at the invitation of the President of the Federation, Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament, Atef Tarawneh, who described the plan as undermining international legitimacy decisions.

Al-Tarawneh considered - in the opening word - that the so-called deal of the century is a loss for those who wrote and adopted it, or found in it some right and some dignity.

He added that the Palestinian issue is going through its most difficult stages, which requires research in taking positions beyond those that are limited to speeches and slogans.

Tarawneh urged the Arab front for the American peace plan to rise from the reality of the division to the space of consensus, saying that this meeting is a step towards integrating Arab efforts in building a common position.

The Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives stressed in a press statement the importance of unifying the Arab parliamentary position in rejecting any settlement that would undermine the Palestinian right, foremost among which is the establishment of an independent state and the right of return and compensation to refugees.

On January 28, Trump announced his peace plan between the Palestinians and the Israelis, which included the establishment of a Palestinian state in the form of an archipelago linked by bridges and tunnels, and its capital in parts of East Jerusalem, while making occupied Jerusalem the "alleged" capital of Israel.

The Arab Parliamentary Union is an Arab organization consisting of divisions representing parliaments and councils of all Arab countries. It was founded in June 1974, and is based in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
