Xi told Trump that China was waging a "people's war" against the virus through "national mobilization" and "strict measures to prevent and control" Corona, according to comments reported by national television, "CCTV".

For its part, the official Xinhua news agency reported that Xi also called on the United States to make a response to the spread of the virus "logical".

The White House said that Trump expressed his "confidence" in China's ability to tackle the emerging coronavirus during his talks with his Chinese counterpart.
