He had escaped the vigilance of his mother. On August 14, 2018, a 6-year-old child was found unconscious in the swimming pool of a campsite in Erdeven (Morbihan). In cardiopulmonary arrest, the boy was transported to the Rennes University Hospital where he died six days later.

On January 22, the former manager of the establishment was tried before the Lorient High Court for manslaughter by a legal person, reports Le Télégramme.

The access door to the swimming pool kept open

During the hearing, the debates focused mainly on the access door to the swimming pool. Maintained by a wedge, it was often open to facilitate the work of maintenance workers. "I was against installing this wedge but I was not strict enough," admitted the former manager, quoted by Ouest-France.

Following the requisitions of the prosecution, the court on Wednesday sentenced the manager to a fine of 30,000 euros. A new hearing on civil interests is scheduled for April 6.
