The New York Stock Exchange rose at the opening on Wednesday, advancing for the third session in a row as investor fears related to the coronavirus continued to dissipate.

Its flagship index, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, rose 1.09% to 29.123.06 points around 14:55 GMT.

The highly technological Nasdaq appreciated by 0.54% to 9,519.35 points, and the S&P 500, which represents the 500 largest companies on Wall Street, took 0.82% to 3,324.54 points .

Wall Street had ended sharply higher Tuesday, the measures taken by the Chinese authorities to stem the health crisis and limit its economic impact seeming to reassure the market players: the Dow Jones had appreciated by 1.44% and the Nasdaq, helped by a new flight from Tesla, had gained 2.10% to reach an unprecedented high.

"Clearly, the indices are evolving according to information about the virus and we should continue to see volatility until we have more definitive information on its implications," said JJ Kinahan of TDAmeritrade.

Meanwhile, "we can only note that governments around the world have so far done a good job in limiting the spread of the virus," he said.

As for the impact on listed companies, "some companies, like Nike on Tuesday evening, recognize that the crisis will have a short-term financial impact but say that the long-term prospects remain the same," added the specialist.

Financial market participants were also encouraged, according to Kinahan, "by rumors that a British researcher is getting closer to a vaccine".

Wall Street brokers were also reassured Wednesday by figures from the monthly survey of the business services firm ADP showing that the private sector in the United States had created 291,000 jobs in January, a level more seen since near five years and much higher than expected by analysts. These statistics bode well before the official report of the American authorities on the labor market expected Friday.

On the bond market, the 10-year rate on the US debt continued to rise and moved Wednesday at 1.642%, against 1.599% Tuesday at the close.
