A statement issued by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation confirmed the rejection of US President Donald Trump's plan for peace in the Middle East, while Iran submitted a complaint to the organization after its delegation was prevented from participating in the meeting.

The statement came after the emergency open-ended meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the level of foreign ministers, to discuss the organization's position on the US peace plan (Deal of the Century) at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Last Tuesday, US President Donald Trump announced a plan that includes the establishment of a Palestinian state in the form of an "archipelago" linked by bridges and tunnels, its capital in parts of East Jerusalem, while making occupied Jerusalem the unified capital of Israel.

On the other hand, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Saudi Arabia prevented an Iranian delegation from attending the Organization of Islamic Cooperation meeting in Jeddah to discuss the US peace plan.

"The Saudi government prevented the participation of the Iranian delegation in the meeting that will be held at the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to discuss the plan for the deal of the century," Fars news agency quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi as saying.

Mousavi said that Iran had lodged a complaint with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and accused Saudi Arabia of exploiting the organization’s presence there. There was no comment from Saudi officials.

He accused Saudi Arabia of creating obstacles to the organization's activities, and denounced this situation regarding an important issue such as the Palestinian issue.

The Palestinian leadership rejected the plan, saying it greatly favored Israel and denied the Palestinians the establishment of an independent state capable of growth.

The League of Arab States also decided - during an emergency ministerial meeting on Saturday - to reject this plan as it does not meet the minimum rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people, and contradict the terms of reference of the peace process based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
