• Tribute: A plaque reminds Gregorio Ordonez in San Sebastián 25 years after his murder

The plaque that reminds Gregorio Ordonez for a week next to the place where the councilor of the PP of San Sebastian was killed by ETA 25 years ago has been subject to sabotage this morning.

Unidentified people have covered with paint the inscription on the plaque , which bears the name of the mayor and leader of the Basque PP and the date of the attack, on January 23, 1995, when an ETA gunman shot him in the head while eating in a bar from the Old Town of San Sebastian.

In addition, the author or perpetrators of the attack have tried to break the tile next to the plaque , placed on the floor, the City of San Sebastián reported on Sunday, whose maintenance services have already been cleaned.

The mayor of San Sebastián, Eneko Goia, has condemned sabotage on his Twitter account and stressed that "Donostia will continue to work to find spaces for memory , reparation and justice with the victims."

The placement of these plates is part of an initiative of the session to remember the 107 people killed by ETA and the Autonomous Anti-Capitalist Commands in San Sebastián between 1974 and 2001; to 11 of the Security Forces from 1974 to 1985; and 4 whose authorship corresponds to the Spanish Basque Battalion and the LAGs.

At the moment only Gregorio Ordóñez's have been placed, last Saturday in an emotional act on 31st of August Street, and those that pay tribute on Liberty Avenue to which he was president of the Diputación de Gipúzcoa, Juan María Araluce , shot by ETA in 1976 with his driver, José María Elícegui , and his three escorts, the police officers Antonio Palomo Pérez, Luis Francisco Sanz Flores and Alfredo García González .

These five plates, reminiscent of the aforementioned victims since March last year , suffered sabotage three times and had to be installed again.
