The Federal Authority for Land and Maritime Transport announced that the concerned authorities are working to put out a fire on board an oil tanker with no load in the Gulf’s width, one twenty miles from the coast of the country, after sending a distress message.

The port and search and rescue teams in the country worked to provide the necessary assistance as soon as the distress message was received, as the efforts made resulted in saving the sailors and the crew of the ship.

The authority confirmed that the ship does not carry any oil shipments, and preliminary data indicate that the fire occurred as a result of an accident during maintenance operations.
