The CGT Energie voted to renew the shutdown of the three incinerators in Ile-de-France for one week, until February 3, the date on which the examination of the pension bill takes place in committee at the Assembly national, concordant sources told AFP.

The three centers in Ivry-sur-Seine, Issy-les-Moulineaux and Saint-Ouen, which process 6,000 tonnes of waste per day produced by 6 million Ile-de-France residents, have been shutdown since Thursday evening.

"The strike and the shutdown of the ovens are renewed for a week," said Julien Lambert, member of the board of the Federation of Mines and Energy of the CGT. "The meeting on Monday with Elisabeth Borne (Minister of the Ecological Transition) did not answer the questions of the employees of the IEGs (electrical and gas industries), who have no visibility on their pension plan", he said. precise.

The 140,000 employees with IEG status (EDF, Engie, Enedis, RTE, GRDF, etc.) have a specific plan, with a calculation of their retirement over the last 6 months and early departures for so-called "active" services. Their average age of departure is currently 58.9 years.

"The minister says that the government will not touch the status, but the pension plan and the status are linked," said the union member. IEG employees and retirees benefit from an advantageous energy tariff.

The waste management organization Syctom, joined by AFP, announced that it was going to "put the operators of the three centers on notice to return to normal operation, ask the State to requisition the personnel for sanitation public and demand the intervention of the police to clear the sites from the Prefect of Police, "said his spokesman.

Syctom is also exploring the possibility of filing a complaint "on the grounds of public health and the right to work".

According to the organization, the shutdown of the ovens, which prevents the treatment of waste is an "environmental disaster" because "out of 6,000 tonnes per day of waste treated in normal times, 5,000 tonnes are currently buried". In addition, incineration contributes to district heating, and the shutdown of the ovens deprives the Parisian district heating company (CPCU) of part of its supply.
