Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas responded to the plan presented by US President Donald Trump that "it will not pass and will go to the dustbin of history as conspiracy projects have gone in this region."

Abbas said after the Palestinian leadership meeting on Tuesday, "These conspiracies and plans to failure and demise will not really fall and will not create a commitment ... and we will return this slap smacking, God willing."

Abbas described the US President's Middle East peace plan as a conspiracy, and addressed his speech to Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the rights of the Palestinian people "are not for sale."

Abbas said in a speech broadcast on television in the West Bank city of Ramallah that he was telling Trump and Netanyahu that "Jerusalem is not for sale, and all our rights are not for sale, bargaining, and the conspiracy deal will not pass."
