January 27, 2020 7.30 A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.3 was registered off the Solomon Islands in the southern Pacific. According to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv) and the US Seismological Agency (Usgs), the earthquake had an epicenter close to Kirakira and a hypocenter about 20 km deep. At the moment there is no news of damage to people or things and the tsunami alert has not been issued.
