The Champs-Elysées, November 24, 2019. - CHINA NOUVELLE / SIPA

What could the Champs-Elysées look like by 2030? This is the question that the Champs-Elysées committee invites Parisians to answer. This association which brings together 180 brands, restaurants and cultural places, and ensures the promotion of the avenue, will launch on February 13th a "wide-ranging citizen consultation with Parisians and Ile-de-France residents on the future of the Champs-Élysées", according to a press release from the committee.

In parallel, an exhibition entitled “Champs-Élysées: history & perspectives” will be held from February 14 at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal in Paris (4th). It will present "the vision of architect Philippe Chiambaretta" and his team and retrace "the evolution of the" most beautiful avenue in the world ", analyze [ra] its current uses and offer [ra] a vision of its possible developments with regard to contemporary issues ”.

At the end of the visit, said the press release, visitors will be invited to "vote on a tablet or on their smartphones for their favorite ideas and add their own proposals". Various themes will be addressed: the greening of the avenue, the pedestrianization, the development of soft mobility, etc. The contributions will be collected and presented to the public authorities next May.

This consultation comes at a time when the Champs-Elysées are hardly frequented by Parisians, who "now only represent 5% of the users of the avenue," said the press release. While "two thirds of passers-by on the Champs-Élysées are tourists, 85% of whom come from abroad".
