The fire was quickly brought under control by the firefighters - GILE Michel / SIPA

More fear than harm. Very early this morning, around 4:30 am an explosion took place, in a factory classified high threshold Seveso, in Chasse-sur-Rhône, near Lyon.

A fire broke out in one of the workshops of the Finorga company, following a leak of Buthyl lithium, a combustible product in contact with air, said the prefecture of Isère in a press release.

No injuries

As soon as the fire started, the company was evacuated and a large firefighting system was deployed, including the chemical risk cell. The prefecture said that the fire was fully under control around 6:30 a.m. No one was injured and there is no toxic risk for the population, she says.

An investigation will be conducted to determine the exact causes of the leak. Additional verifications on the site will also be carried out.
