Socialist François Rebsamen, former Minister of Labor for François Hollande, announced Friday that he is a candidate for re-election as head of the town hall in Dijon, where he was elected mayor for the first time in 2001. The outgoing mayor put forward an "ecological, united and attractive" project, carried by "the left and center progressives" on a list which will notably include the Communist Party and the MoDem, he said in an interview. circulated at the same time by the newspaper Le Bien Public . The construction of a tramway, the pedestrianization of the city center or the revival of the Museum of Fine Arts after ten years of work will have notably marked the Burgundian capital during its first three terms.

François Rebsamen had retired from his duties for a few months in 2018 to cure himself of cancer, leaving the management of the city to his first assistant Nathalie Koenders. "I come out strengthened from the ordeal I experienced," he said, saying he still "has a lot of projects in mind" for Dijon and its metropolis, of which he is also seeking the presidency.

If the "fight against global warming" is one of the priorities of the outgoing mayor, who would like to make Dijon a European green capital, the environmentalists, members of the outgoing majority, will lead this time campaign on their side with the head of the list Stéphanie Modde.
