His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, held a meeting with His Excellency Dr. Angela Merkel, Germany’s friendly Federal Chancellor, where His Highness is currently visiting Berlin at the invitation of the German Chancellor.
During the meeting, they discussed the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them at all levels, developments and developments in the Arab Gulf and Middle East regions, especially the Libyan issue, in addition to issues of common concern.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation - who heads the UAE delegation to the "Berlin Conference" to be held tomorrow - and His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State of the UAE's Special Envoy to the Federal Republic of Germany.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, at the beginning of the meeting, thanked the German Chancellor for the good reception and efforts made in promoting bilateral relations, and he wished the friendly German people further progress and development.
His Highness affirmed that the UAE and Germany are major strategic partners, and the relations between them are strong and growth thanks to the keenness of the leaderships of the two countries to push them forward in various political, economic, cultural, social and other fields.
His Highness said that the security and stability of the Middle East region represents a regional and global interest, given the great strategic importance of this region to the whole world, stressing the position of the Emirates calling for wisdom in dealing with all developments in the region.
His Highness pointed out that Germany, with its great influence regionally and globally, and its strong relations with the Middle East region, have an important role in working for peace and stability in the region.

And His Highness expressed the UAE’s appreciation for the positive and constructive role played by the friendly Federal Republic of Germany in seeking to find a political settlement to the crisis in sister Libya through the Berlin conference ... affirming the UAE’s full support for the efforts of Germany and the United Nations envoy to Libya, in order to stabilize the ceasefire and reach To a comprehensive and stable political settlement to the Libyan crisis, which would enhance Arab security and maintain stability in the Mediterranean region.
His Highness affirmed that a political and peaceful solution is the best solution for achieving security and stability in the region and achieving the aspirations of the Libyan people.
His Highness also stressed that the UAE with any effort, movement or initiative that would help the brotherly Libyan people out of its crisis and overcome their suffering, stop interfering in its internal affairs, strengthen the pillars of the national state and its institutions in the face of armed terrorist militias, and put an end to the flow of terrorist elements to Libya ... adding that the UAE has always been on the side of the Libyan people, and their legitimate aspirations for peace, reconciliation, unity and development.
His Highness said: The UAE looks forward to the leadership of Chancellor Angela Merkel of the Berlin Conference on Libya - in light of a large and influential international and regional presence - in providing a strong impetus for this conference towards achieving its goals in returning to the constructive dialogue, to achieve peace and security on the Libyan scene.
The two sides agreed on the importance of building Libyan national institutions and restoring order and law to fight the forces of extremism and terrorism and to counter foreign interference in Libya.
For her part, German Chancellor Angela Merkel thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed for his visit to Germany, and his important role in deepening the bonds of Emirati-German friendship during the past years ... confirming that she is keen to consult with His Highness continuously on issues of the Arab Gulf and the Middle East and that the UAE and Germany They share in the work for peace and development, promoting the values of tolerance and coexistence, and facing extremism and terrorism in the world.
