The Plenary Session of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has agreed on Thursday to approve the proposal of the Council of Ministers to appoint former Minister of Justice Dolores Delgado as the new attorney general of the State.
The governing body of the judges has concluded that the career prosecutor meets the legal requirements set forth in the Organic Statute of the Prosecutor's Office to fill that position by having "more than 15 years of effective exercise of his profession" and is "Spanish jurist of recognized prestige ". However, seven members have voted against the future attorney general having the legal requirements for the position while twelve in favor. The members of the conservative block Vicente Guilarte and Wenceslao Olea have not attended the Plenary.
