The head of the Traffic Investigation Department in the Directorate of Traffic in the External Areas of the Directorate, Lt. Col. Mohammed Abdul Rahim Al Hosani, stated that the command and control center of the Operations Department in the Central Operations Sector in Abu Dhabi Police received, yesterday morning, a report stating the occurrence of a traffic collision between a truck and a bus, on Al Raha Beach Street towards Outside, and upon receiving the report, the competent authorities in Abu Dhabi Police moved in, undertook to secure the site and plan the accident.

He added that the speed of the traffic patrol response, and the arrival of the ambulance and rescue vehicles of the Directorate of Emergency and Public Safety, in record time, contributed to the non-exacerbation of the losses, pointing out that the mobile field hospital took over providing the necessary treatment for some cases, and the others were quickly transferred to hospitals for treatment Necessary.

He pointed out that field measures were taken to secure the road and evacuate it from the damaged vehicles. Traffic was diverted from Sheikh Zayed Bridge towards Al Maqta Bridge, and the road was returned to its normal state.

In turn, Abu Dhabi Police revealed through the surveillance cameras (Falcon Eye), in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Center, that the main cause of the accident was "reckless behavior" of a vehicle driver, who was walking in front of the truck and confusing its driver, forcing the truck driver to stop in order to avoid hitting him from behind.

Major Abdullah Khamis Al-Azizi, Acting Head of the Investigation and Serious Accidents Section in the Traffic Department of the External Areas at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said that the primary causes of the accident were excessive speed, and the bus driver’s failure to observe the road conditions, which led to the accident.

The incident was supervised in the field by the Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, Colonel Muhammad Dahi Al-Humairi, and the Director of the Overseas Traffic Department, Colonel Muhammad Al-Shehhi.
