Anti-fascists will soon again be forced to go underground in Europe. This opinion was expressed on Facebook by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the lack of plans for the Warsaw authorities to officially celebrate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the city from Nazi invaders.

“If we talk about an obvious trend, then I can’t understand how you can mark the start date of the war and at the same time practically ignore the release dates? At the same time, the preconditions for the outbreak of war and the pre-war situation are completely distorted, ”Zakharova emphasized.

Earlier, the RIA Novosti news agency, citing a spokesman for the city administration's press service, reported that on January 17, the Warsaw authorities would not officially celebrate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the city by Red Army soldiers from Nazi Germany.

“For many years, January 17 is not a date officially celebrated in Warsaw,” the press service of the city administration said.

At the same time, according to her, the representative of Warsaw was invited by the Union of Polish Army soldiers to the ceremony of laying flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. However, the city administration registered "two street events organized by private individuals in order to mark this date."

We add that in Moscow on January 17 a salute will be given on the occasion of a memorable date. The military personnel of the Western Military District will produce about 3 thousand salvos; the ZIS-3 guns will provide sound support.

“More than 50 kinds of fireworks will be released into the sky of Moscow, among them are Svetlana, Glory, Rubin, Assol, Vega and Violet. The domes of gaps will exceed 300 meters in diameter, ”the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Recall that Warsaw was liberated by Soviet troops as part of the Warsaw-Poznan offensive operation. In 2019, at a meeting of the working group of the Russian Historical Society, the report of the commander of the 1st Belorussian Front Marshal Georgy Zhukov on the liberation of Poland was submitted to him on January 29, 1945 to the State Defense Committee. The document contains a report on the actions of the Soviet troops and the situation in the territories liberated from the Nazis. In particular, Zhukov described the general situation in the Polish capital in two words: “The city is dead.”

Along with this, former Polish President Lech Walesa criticized the current authorities of the republic due to the fact that Russian leader Vladimir Putin has not yet received an invitation to events on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp (Auschwitz).

“This (the liberation of the concentration camp by the Red Army. - RT ) is historical truth, and no one will change it, and if the Polish government wants to create its own historical narrative, this is too frivolous. If we want good relations with Russia, we must conduct a dialogue with it, but this must be done in a certain way. I know that this is possible, ”Walesa said in an interview with Onet.pl.

We emphasize that in the summer of 2019, the press secretary of the President of Poland, Blazhej Spykhalsky, spoke about the plans of the country's authorities to invite Putin, but so far this has not happened. At the same time, Russian officials were not invited to participate in events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the start of World War II on September 1, 2019.

According to TASS on Monday, January 13, the Russian side will be represented by Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev at events in memory of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp by the Red Army.

"In Poland, trying to rewrite history"

A member of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Sergei Tsekov, in a conversation with RT, noted that Warsaw “is trying to rewrite historical events all the time,” adding that Poland, even during the years of the existence of the USSR, showed disrespect for the history of countries.

“I am convinced that the world community, which is not engaged and seeks to objectively evaluate history, does not understand and disapprove of the behavior of the Poles. Such behavior does not contribute to strengthening the authority of Poland on the world stage. I think this statement is related to the position of the current leadership of Poland, but it has a foundation that appeared quite a long time ago, ”the senator explained.

“I believe that Poland will become a normal neighbor when it forgets past grievances and claims, when it understands that it is necessary to build competent relations with its neighbors and not look for negative things in the past. Politics should be built on the basis of positive, mutual victories and achievements. The victory over the Nazi invaders is a common achievement, and we give objective assessments of our past, ”Tsekov added.

In turn, the deputy director of the Institute of the CIS countries, Vladimir Zharikhin, noted that the Polish authorities were in a state of hysteria, since their ambitions to achieve leading positions in the EU were unsuccessful, while relations between Russia and Germany were restored.

“They are trying to rewrite history, but this rewriting is unlikely to be supported by representatives of Western Europe. This goes across certain EU positions, ”the expert explained in an interview with RT.

On January 9, the lower house of the Polish parliament adopted a resolution according to which the USSR and Nazi Germany were equally responsible for the outbreak of World War II. The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, recalled that the truth was recorded by the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal. According to her, the approach of the Polish side can be regarded as "a review of the results of the Second World War."

"This is a distortion of our entire history, this is a denigration of exploits, this is the demolition of monuments ... Today, Poland with such a statement not only erases the true history, but also betrays the memory of its ancestors," said RT Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with compatriots Victor Vodolatsky.
