“Telephone talks between Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper took place,” TASS quoted the Russian defense ministry as saying.
It is noted that the parties discussed the situation in the Middle East region.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced Russia's readiness to discuss with the United States the situation around Iran if Washington shows interest.
